Kolby Cooper - mama
Since his acclaimed album Boy From Anderson County To The Moon, he’s debuted at the Grand Ole Opry and marked four years in the industry, amassing millions of streams and selling out shows nationwide. Known for turning real-life stories into fan-favorite anthems, his latest release, Kill Me (BBR Music/Wheelhouse Records & Combustion Music), delivers epic vocals and fiery instrumentation, ushering in a bold new era of his music.
THE CREATIVE CONCEPT
“MAMA” is a song about overcoming hardships with the support of a mother’s love.
When Kolby approached us about the music video, we explored various concepts but were drawn to the simplicity of a night drive—symbolizing his need to escape and process his struggles, as if confiding in his mama. We captured reflective moments of him driving, while the performance scenes featured Kolby in front of his car, adding more motion and emotion to his performance.
WHAT THIS CAMPAIGN COVERED:
Creative and Storyboard
Pre-Production with building/ rigging up the car scenes
All needed to be shot in just a couple of hours
Post-Production from Encima Media
production
Using Animo Studios, we designed a dynamic backdrop for Kolby’s performance shots, projecting a blue-hour scene featuring a truck with its headlights on. For the driving scenes, we built a simulated truck entirely in the studio, rigging car parts to create the illusion of Kolby driving—enhancing the storytelling for the music video.
post-production
We handled the post-production for this project, including editing and color grading. With a tight turnaround, our team worked swiftly, carefully assembling multiple takes to seamlessly showcase Kolby’s emotions to help tell his story and vision for this song.
